KTSF selected the winner of the 1std Science Technology Award

Korea Toray Science Foundation (president Lee Yeong-gwan) announced the first Toray Korea Science and Technology Award winners and science and technology research fund recipients.

The Science and Technology Award is an award given to researchers who significantly contributed to the development of science in Korea throughout their life as researchers with their outstanding achievements in the essential areas and application areas of chemistry and materials. In the essential areas, Prof. Jang Seok-bok, Department of Chemistry, KAIST, and in the application areas, Prof. Jang Jeong-sik / School of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Seoul National University were selected as winners, and they received prize money of KRW100 million and a plaque.

In addition, Korea Toray Science Foundation supports new passionate researchers who are striving to pioneer new research activities. To find creative and challenging research projects and create an environment in which they can be immersed in creative and differentiated research activities, it selected two teams in the same essential and application areas of chemistry and materials respectively as the Science and Technology Award.

This past January, Korea Toray Science Foundation was established to intensively support chemistry and materials, which are the foundation of science and technology and promote industrial development, and the fostering of future manpower, and said that it would contribute to the creation of the research environment in which outstanding scientists are respected and innovative ideas are translated into reality, and the fostering of next-generation manpower who will lead chemistry.
