Award-winning achievements

Through this research project, Professor Jeong Kim introduces a new concept of surface structure and characteristics that can be stealthy to have ideal blood compatibility on the surface of the artificial lung and studies the structure in which the blood does not recognize the existence of the artificial lung itself.

The new stealth material, a major research area, can be applied to various blood contact devices and should advance artificial human organ technology. In addition, it will serve as a turning point for expanding the existing separation film technology, which is concentrated in water treatment and gas separation, into healthcare.

It will be able to secure a technological edge in the rapidly growing global healthcare market and dramatically improve the quality of life of patients with organ failure waiting for organ transplantation. It presents a new paradigm for research on blood-contact materials and stands out for its novelty as a project that can be applied to developing artificial blood-contact organs that help overcome the threat of various diseases due to aging.
