TAK develops the world's first eco-friendly water-based MLCC Release Film

2022. 03. 17

Toray Advanced Materials Korea(TAK) has developed the world's first release film for eco-friendly water-based stacked ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) made using water as a solvent.

The aqueous MLCC release film uses water instead of an organic solvent in the crude liquid used in the coating process of the release agent to fundamentally eliminate harmful gases generated during organic solvent drying, thereby reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption.

The aqueous release film developed over 2 years has no deformation, such as shrinkage at high temperatures, and is evaluated to be superior to the existing products in terms of environmental friendliness and quality by having both polymer dispersion and antistatic functions.

TAK, Korea's No. 1 release film, has a consistent process from base film to high-order processing and exports it to the global IT material market based on quality advantage and supply stability based on the specialization of production lines by product.

According to the industry, MLCC, which is called the rice of the industry, is also expected to grow more than 10% annually as the market is expected to grow rapidly due to the expansion of electric and autonomous vehicles, soaring demand for AI and information and communication data, and advancement of electricity.

TAK has a variety of products for various purposes, such as polarizing plates, OLEDs, and OCA, as well as MLCC, due to its excellent dysplasia and flawlessness, and demand for aqueous release films is expected to increase as eco-friendly needs increase.

TAK said, "We are continuing to develop new next-generation materials based on ESG management, and we will also contribute to the development of eco-friendly products of not only our company but also our customers."
