The 5th annual awards ceremony of the Korea Toray Science Promotion Foundation
The Korea Toray Science Foundation (Chairman of Toray Advanced Materials Korea Young-kwan Lee)
held the 5th Korea Toray Science and Technology Award and Research Fund Support Awards at the FKI Conference Center in Yeouido on October 25th.
About 160 people attended the award ceremony, including the winners and their families, foundation officials, academic and industrial figures, and college students.
Professor Dong-ho Kim at Yonsei University and Professor Jong-beom Baek at UNIST were awarded for the Science and Technology Award and received 100 million won in prize.
The annual fund 50 million will be given to Won-jin Chung, a chemistry professor at GIST, Seung-hwan Cho, a chemistry professor at POSTECH,
Moon-jeong Park, a chemistry professor at POSTECH, and Seung-ho Yu, a chemical and biotechnology professor at Korea University, for three years.
Following the award ceremony, a special lecture by Morinobu Endo, a special honorary professor at Shinshu University in Japan,
was held under the theme of 'Material innovation through creative cooperation between Korea and Japan.'
Lee Young-kwan, chairman of the foundation, stressed the importance of science and technology for the sustainable development of mankind and said,
"We will continue to make efforts for the development of science and technology."
Meanwhile, the Korea Toray Science Promotion Foundation receives applications for research projects for Science and Technology awards
and examines based on the excellence of life achievements and the creativity of tasks.
Scientific Technique Awards was given to 10 people until this year and has been supporting 20 teams for their research funds.
