Professor Lee Jong-chan won the 2020 Toray Polymer Award
The awards ceremony, which was held on 6th October at the Korea Polymer Society's Autumn Conference, was broadcast online with minimal winners to prevent COVID-19.
The professor, who mainly studied polymer synthesis and coating materials and nano composite materials, earned a master's degree in polymer engineering from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in polymer synthesis from Case Western Reserve University in the United States.
The professor was also honored with the following outstanding achievements in polymer engineering and synthesis.
△ A Study on the New Concept of Polymer Electrolyte based on Polymer Synthesis Technology for Securing Safety of Lithium Secondary Cells
△ Development of high molecular membrane of fuel cell, which is the core of hydrogen electric vehicle, and creation of performance
△ Research for localization of fluoride fuel cell membranes, which are highly dependent on foreign countries
In his acceptance speech, Professor Lee said, "I am honored to be recognized for my research so far," adding, "I will continue to achieve meaningful results in the field of polymer engineering through research that will help advance mankind."
Organized by the Korean Polymer Society, the Toray Polymer Award was established in 2012 by TAK to contribute to the development of polymeric science and technology in Korea, and it selects and awards excellent researchers in the field of polymeric science and technology every year.
